Orion Pack
October 9, 2012
Reviewer: Jim Crowley from Bend Oregon
Our Bow Hunt this year was hot, smokey and challenging. When my son shot a 6x6 Bull Elk the challenge really began. I packed the head and antlers out on the Orion Pack. It was easy to load, arrange and once the boys got it lifted up on my back(heavy) I strapped it in and away I went up the hill - the pack was comfortable, did not cut into my hips or shoulders and held my cargo secure. I did such a good job they allowed me to return for the back strap and loins! The meat was cared for properly and the pack made it bearable. The support was awesome even the second load. We use the Orion Exclusively - I am 60 yo plus and hunt with 30 yo's!The Orion allows me to do my share with comfort.

Orion Pack

The pack proved its utility when used both for day hunting and overnight (multiple days/nights) pack in hunting. The pack allows for various configurations to accommodate different gear loads and carried all loads comfortably.

excellent craftsmanship

I just got my pack this month, so only training use so far (loaded with 25-35# - comfortable fit). However, I found it to be very well built, every seam is tight and all straps, fasteners and zippers are quality. The versatility and adjustability make this a great pack for most body types, including women. Hope to fill it with elk this season!

FANTASTIC Pack!
July 25, 2012
Reviewer: Tim Musgrave from Portland, OR United States
I purchased a day pack with some custom alterations 18 months ago and immediately fell in love. It's the first serious pack I've worn (beyond my 1980's Army ruck sack!) Working with Karl from concept to fine tuning the final product has been amazing. Karl not only talks about customer service he demonstrates his commitment with his actions!
I once carried another pack - what a mistake! I was sore for days afterwards and the load and terrain was much less than what I had done with my OPW. Since then I refer to my OPW as "The Cadillac."
I have worn it snow shoeing while being snowed/rained on and all my gear stays dry.
During my hikes I am always glad to have it. My pals struggle with their gear and getting settled comfortably so we can go. Meanwhile, I stand by in comfort singing the praises of OPW and encouraging them to upgrade from the expensive junk they are packing around.
I just don't know how anyone could find a better product or company to work with than OPW.

The versatility of this pack is endless

I am completely new to back country hunting I am planning on doing my first this year. Up to this point I have used my pack mostly for one day hunting and fishing trips and a couple of one night pack ins. My needs have changed every time I have gone out and that is what I absolutely love about this pack. No matter what I have wanted to take I have found away to load the items I want on my pack comfortably and efficiently. The engineering and thought that was put into this pack goes beyond anything else I have seen on the market.
Update.
Go to YouTube and search for Oregon Pack Works Orion pack to Saddle Bags Conversion to see how I convert this pack into a very nice set of saddle bags for my horse further extending the all is one capabilities of pack.

I have owned my OPW Orion pack for a couple of years now and it's great. Comfortable and very versatile. Material and stitching are outstanding and extremely durable, plus it is quiet for archery.

Life Long Customer
December 6, 2011
Reviewer: Colton Myres from Toledo, OR United States
I purchased my Orion Pack from Bear Mountain Outfitters this July and I put it to work right away. I used it on all day scouting trips with my food, misc, water, and all my video camera equipment. I could notice right away from first time use that it was more than a comfortable pack and could wear it 50+ lbs heavy all day and be fine with it if I had to. Went from scouting straight into Oregon coast Roosevelt archery season and was more than happy with it. It fit all my gadgets and tools that i needed. I have yet to put meat on it, but hopefully soon will find out. I have without a doubt that it will exceed my expectations when it comes time for it. Keep the best packs out there coming. Keep up the great work. I will be a life long customer with you folks. thanks for making a day in the woods easier.

Best Pack
November 19, 2011
Reviewer: Russell Leavitt from Warrenton, OR United States
My daughter Allison drew a once in a lifetime Rocky Mountain Goat tag in Oregon. We got the Orion pack and it worked awesome and felt great while packing and hunting. When she took the goat, I had the whole hide, head and hooves on this pack. Yeah I knew I had some weight, but the pack made it feel like it was 40 lbs less than it was. Now I will be getting this pack! It is the only pack you will ever need!!

Orion what a great pack

This is quite possibly the best 3-5 day bivy pack ever made. I keep all my gear in the side overflow bags, I slide my sleep system which I keep in a sil nylon dry bag down between the overflow bags and the meat shelf and you are ready to go. This pack is perfectly sized for bivy hunting and converts down to the rogue for day hunts in just seconds.

Very Versatile...

Bought the OPW system in spring 2011. I have used it on every hunt, hike, and scouting excursion since. The versatility of the system allows me to go from lightweight family outing day pack to lightweight comfortably riding multiple day hunting pack with a few quick changes. Our crew used the OPW gear exclusively this year from spring turkey in April, scouting thru summer, big game this fall, and now into gamebirds and predators in winter. There is nothing this pack system can't do.
